Truth is for Emails Too

it [Love] does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 1 Corinthians 13:6 (ESV).

I recently received an email that had been forwarded many times to many people and at the top it said “SHARE, SHARE AND MORE SHARE!”

It had an AP (Associated Press) tagline, but no date. The piece started out “The group Americans for Freedom of Information has released copies of President Obamas college transcripts…”

I became suspicious because of the lack of a date...

Why Stephen’s Light?

It is not my light, but the light of Jesus that shines through me.

Stephen Williams

Jesus was talking to all Christians in Matthew 5:14-16  (ESV). “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Jesus intends for Chris...

What’s the limit?

There once was a people group who were given a land with all the resources needed for lives of comfort. Those people were also given a set of guidelines showing how to live free together in peace during times of prosperity or poverty. The system worked for many years, but as time passed key principles were violated or ignored.

“With their selfishness came arrogance and with their abundance came ingratitude.”

Because of the abundance the people used more and more resources, and as time pass...

Why Do They Reject Him?

Why oh Lord do the people reject your righteous one? They seek their own pleasures in the gods of this world. They chase after money and cast it toward the wicked.

They insult your people and they toss out the servants of your kingdom. They deny your power even as you show them your might in your works all around them.

You give us the secret to life abundant now and perfect life beyond the veil of death in the word...

Christian Trade Colleges?

I just read a piece in WORLD Magazine on “College financial miseries” and I share their concerns about the state of higher education, but from the kid’s side of the discussion. Too often tens of thousands of dollars are wasted when young adults take classes or entire semesters they never use. I believe we need to encourage more young people to obtain trade credentials before they seek a traditional academic college degree.

Most kids who are fresh out of High School have no firsthand experienced ...

Our Facade

May 2013

A façade is a superficial appearance or illusion of something. The front of a building, especially a decorative one is a facade. It does not support the structure it is just for looks.

Some folks say “I’ve got my work face on” implying the way they act at work or school or the golf course or wherever is different at different times. The truth is we all change somewhat as we fill various roles in life, but does that mean we forget Jesus once we walk out those doors? NO!

We have to...

Power Grid Fears?

By Stephen Williams (see note about author at end)

Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. As Christians we are blessed with the certainty that Jesus has us in his hands no matter what occurs in the world.

Some worry in these days of international tension and domestic uncertainty about our power grid falling victim to hackers or a well placed terrorist explo...

Prayer Brings Man Back Alive After 45 Minutes

August 2013

Wow, this was a miracle from God for all to see… it’s amazing.

A doctor at the Kettering Medical Center in Ohio pronounced a miracle this month after a man he had declared dead for 45 minutes came back to life after the man’s 17-year-old son prayed over his lifeless body and screamed: “You’re not going to die today.”

“They sent us into a counseling room...

Maryam and Marzia: Jesus Sees Us Through Hard Times

I do not understand how anyone can endure hard times without Jesus. God comforts us in times of trouble so that we can share our faith with others when they are experiencing similar trials.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

I found a good example of this...

Our Treasures

In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus said:“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NKJ)

I noticed a new storage facility that recently went up just down the road called “Another Closet...
